What is LLM visibility?

How often, how prominently, and how accurately AI assistants name your company when buyers ask.

For years, being found meant ranking on a page of links. That is changing. When a buyer asks an AI assistant “who are the best providers of X,” they often get a single, confident answer with a short list of names. That answer is the new front page. Either you are on it, or you are not.

The shortlist happens before you know it

The assistant does the comparison the buyer used to do by hand. It decides who is worth naming, in what order, and how to describe them. If your company is absent, or described with outdated or wrong information, you are eliminated from consideration silently, before any human weighs the options.

Visibility has five parts

  • Presence. Are you named at all when the question is asked?
  • Position. Do you lead the answer, or trail a list of competitors?
  • Accuracy. Is what the assistant says about you correct and current?
  • Sentiment. Is the framing positive, neutral, or negative?
  • Competitors. Who owns the answer when you do not?

Why on-site work is not enough

Making your own site readable to AI is necessary hygiene, but it is not the main lever. Assistants synthesize from what the wider web says about you: independent sources, references, and citable material. Being talked about accurately in the places assistants trust is what moves the answer.

How to measure it

You cannot improve what you cannot see. Measuring LLM visibility means asking real buyer questions, capturing the answers verbatim, and scoring them consistently over time. That is exactly what visdx is built to do, and it turns a vague worry into a number you can act on.

Common questions

What is LLM visibility?

LLM visibility is how often, how prominently, and how accurately AI assistants name your company when buyers ask questions in your category.

Why does it matter?

Buyers increasingly ask an AI assistant instead of scrolling search results. If the assistant does not name you, or describes you inaccurately, you are left out of the shortlist before a human ever compares options.

How is it different from SEO?

SEO optimized for a ranked list of links. LLM visibility is about being named and described inside a single synthesized answer. The old signals still matter, but the outcome is a mention, not a rank.

Can you measure it?

Yes. You ask the questions your buyers ask, capture what assistants answer, and score presence, position, accuracy, sentiment, and competitors. That is what visdx does.
